How to Setup Your Belkin Router to Enjoy the Freedom of Connecting Wirelessly

How to Setup Your Belkin Router to Enjoy the Freedom of Connecting Wirelessly

One of the excellent wireless devices, Belkin router has given users the freedom of connecting wirelessly to the internet from and across their home. Though the Belkin router setup is the easiest task to perform, you should consider certain things before you begin so as to save yourself time and from frustration. Below are the instructions that will help you access the Belkin router setup page so that you configure the settings for wireless connection and gaming console among other things.

Setup Guide:

Disconnect the power cords of your PC, modem, and router. Also unPlug their power cords from the wall jacks Connect your PC directly to the DSL or cable modem. If a login screen from your ISP (internet service provider) appears, note down the user name and password as you will need these to make changes to your router settings Disconnect your router and the DSL or cable modem Connect your modem to the 'WAN' port located at the back of the router. Connect your PC to the router using one of the 4 ports located at its back Plug the power cords back to the PC, modem, and router and to the power outlets Turn on the modem, wait for at least 10-15 seconds. Connect the Belkin router back to the PC, and reboot the PC Click on the 'Start' Menu> go to 'Control Panel'> and then go to 'Network Connections' Right click on the 'Local Area Connection' icon and select 'Properties' from the drop-down Menu Click on the 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)' option, select 'Obtain an IP AdDress Automatically', and finally click on 'Obtain DNS Server AdDresses Automatically' Launch you internet browser (Internet Explorer or Mozilla etc.). If it prompts for a username and password, key in the login information and you are good to go. Make whatever changes you want to your settings. If it doesn't bring up anything, then type "192.168.2.1" (without quotes) and hit 'Enter' on the keyboard

Additional Tips:

Belkin routers are shipped without default admin password. So when you see the login window, don't enter any password and just click on 'Login' or 'Submit' whatever you see there.

If you want to configure your wireless settings, then click to choose 'Wireless Internet Connection' in place of 'Local Area Connection.' Ensure that you have password protected your wireless connection. An unprotected wireless connection can easily be taken advanTAGe of.

The Belkin router setup can also be performed with the installation disc. However, if you don't have one, then follow these instructions.

Keep your router at least at some distance from magnets, Speakers, or metal objects. The frequencies, rays, or heat from these objects can hamper your Belkin router's functionality and efficiency.

My Router Isn't Connecting to the Internet

My Router Isn't Connecting to the Internet

Routers are, for the most part, easy to setup and maintain, but sometimes issues come up that can be frustrating. This article adDresses some common problems people have with their router.

Router settings are accessed with a web browser. One of the most common issues router owners have is that they don't remember how to log into their router. Directions for accessing the router are often written on a sticker on the bottom or back of the router.

You need to be connected to the router in order to access the router's settings (unless your router has the ability to be connected to remotely). To access the router open a web browser and type in the router's IP adDress into the adDress bar. This is usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1. If that doesn't work, type in "ipconfig" and look for the IP adDress for your network adapter. Copy the number you find, except you'll need to change the number after the third period to a 1.

Depending on your router's settings you may have to connect to the router with an Ethernet cord to access the router's settings. To do this, securely connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the Computer and the Ethernet port on the router.

Often when people change the default username and passwords on their router, they end up forgetting them. It's a good idea to take some masking tape and write your username and password on your router so you can easily find it. If you have forgotten your login information you will need to reset your router's settings.

To reset the router locate the reset button which is usually a small hole on the rear of the unit. Use a paperclip to press the reset button and hold it down for 10 seconds. After you release the button the router will reset.

If you have access to the network but not the internet check the status of the router's lights. Check to see if the internet light on the modem is indicating the correct status. If it isn't, check that the internet modem has access to the internet and check to see if the network cable is securely attached to the Ethernet ports between the router and the modem.

If you cannot get internet access you'll need to manually set some of the router's settings. You may need to contact your internet service provider for these settings. If the status light on the router indicates that it has an internet connection, check any firewalls on your Computer that may cause interference to/from the internet and make sure they're setup properly.

Problems connecting two wireless routers in the same house

Problems connecting two wireless routers in the same house

If you have a big house or office that requires you to connect to the Internet more than a warehouse far away, you may need to connect the wireless router to distribute the connection. This happened to me recently when I wanted to access a clear connection to the internet in my garage. Connect two wireless router was the only solution for me.

We all know that just Plug in both your router and start using them, but soonwill discover that problems between the two wireless routers.

One of the main problems that I noticed when you use two routers in the same house is that you must activate the connections when you move from one end of the house to another. This annoyed me no end, as I go around like my laptop. I want to be in the middle of something and realized that my connection was down and tried to connect to another network. Sometimes I wouldhalf would be in line editing and all my updates lost something because of the exchange between the two wireless routers.

If this problem occurred, it would also change my IP adDress, which could also cause problems when trying to share files or connect to other remote desktop Computer. I really need to clarify how to use more than one wireless router in the same house.

It was pure laziness that I had put in this situation becausetwo wireless routers do not work really hard. It was just a matter of taking the time and effort to ensure that the two routers should work well together.

I had two options when you connect two wireless routers in the same house:

1 One was to connect the two wireless router with client mode. This method is not so great because it can reduce the speed of internet connection. A further declinethis method is that the further away the player receives the second router, the worse the connection. I made a different choice, trying to solve my problem.

2 The next option was to connect the two routers with bridging. This method is a little 'complicated, but it works better and also not to reduce the speed of your Internet connection. It can be a little 'technical, but I think with some good instructions to do any work like that. Solve the problemis not difficult, you just have to figure out how to do it.
