NETGEAR Wireless-N 150 Router DGN1000 - Review

NETGEAR Wireless-N 150 Router DGN1000 - Review

The NETGEAR Wireless-N Router DGN1000 150 was developed to provide a simple ADSL2 + modem / router, 802.11g wireless access. There are also 410 / 100 Ethernet ports, a firewall, parental control and Filters for Ph Meters and the files are not transmitted inHD.

The modem gave a very good performance with an ADSL2+ connection. The average uploading speed was 845 Kilobits/second and downloading speed was 16.595Mbps with the broadband speed test of PC World. The device gave a better downloading performance than even Netgear's DGND3300, however, the uploading speed lagged behind a little.

The router's set up process is easy - it just involves providing a username and password. The modem will itself detect connection settings. After installing the modem when you first log in, it will perform a firmware update check - it will do this even prior to you get a chance of configuring it. Simply cancel and upgrade after making the settings.

For parents concerned about the safe internet usage of their kids, there is the simple option of URL as well as keyword Filtering, which they can utilize for blocking access to any site/search terms that may be harmful for your kids. If someone attempts to access a blocked site, they will receive a big denial of access notification on their screen.

With a static IP network, there is available the option of setting your own Computer as a trusted Computer to not apply the filtering to it. You also have the option of checking the router's log for seeing if the flagged terms are being searched by anyone.

Port forwarding is something that is not an easily impleMentable feature of the router. This feature is present in the 'Firewall Rules' part of the Interface, and you can not add a rule that is not already present in the 'Services' drop-down. To forward a port that is not the descent, first go to "Services" interface for the input, then referred to the firewall rules in exchange for adding your IP.

All in all, the NETGEAR Wireless-N Router DGN1000 created 150, a simple ADSL2 + modem / router, which is a nice design (you can also mount) has. And 'ideal for aapartMent/small home.
